The Highlands are home to some of the best and unique artisan food and drink producers in the world, and we are delighted to support, and showcase, a variety of produce from them. We have also sourced some of the finest foods from the rest of Scotland, the UK and Europe.

Our Story
Artisan food & drink shop and events space founded in Inverness by Sarah & Rob
After opening our wine bar, The Walrus & Corkscrew, in 2021 it became apparent that there was a gap in the Inverness food market for a gourmet delicatessen: so many visitors, local, Scottish and overseas kept asking where we sourced our charcuterie and cheese products and we realised no one in the city was selling them. We finally opened Merchant’s Delicatessen in the newly redeveloped Merchant House on Castle Street, Inverness on 2 December 2023.
Our aim is to provide the people of Inverness, and the large number of visitors from both home and abroad, the opportunity to purchase from an extensive range of quality Highland, Scottish and European cheeses, charcuterie, cured meats and smoked fish, as well as high quality related food products which they cannot purchase elsewhere within Inverness - all in the one place.
We also offer a selection of the wines and spirits which can be found in our wine bar for off sale.
